Guttman Oil Company Delivers as Official Fuel Source for the 2005 Citgo Bassmasters Classic

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Although the employees of Guttman Oil Company and Source One Transportation, operating companies of the Guttman Group, never touched a fishing rod, they played an important part in the 2005 CITGO Bassmaster Classic held in Pittsburgh, July 29-31. As the Official Fuel Source of the event, Guttman Oil coordinated the supply of fuel for all the boats and trucks used by the world’s top anglers competing in the event.

When Citgo, the main Bassmaster sponsor, needed a marketer to fuel the Bassmaster pro’s boats and trucks they looked to Guttman for help. During the 10-day event, they delivered almost 15,000 gallons of fuel directly to each of the 70 trucks and boats staged at the boat yard adjacent to Mellon Arena in downtown Pittsburgh. "Guttman did an outstanding job in supplying fuel for both the tow vehicles and boats to each of the 52 Classic anglers, press observers, and BASS officials", said Lance Peck, Outdoor Sports Marketing Manager, Citgo Petroleum Corporation.

The CITGO Bassmaster Classic is the world championship of bass fishing and the premiere title in the sport. Kevin VanDam took this year’s top honors, weighing in his five-bass limit at 4 pounds, 13 ounces at Mellon Arena on Sunday. The tournament took place on the Allegheny, Monongahela and Ohio Rivers, which intersects around downtown Pittsburgh.
